We march for...

April 30th, 2011 Pierce and I ran with the twins in the March of Dimes 5k run in Forest Park. It was quite a production and something we were very proud to be a part of. We ran for and in honor of Bennett and Charlie and every other baby that has and will be born to soon. Not a day goes by that we don't think of what could have been and how thankful we are for our beautiful babies. It is because of March of Dimes that surfactant was developed. Surfactant is the "medicine" given to babies to help develop their lungs. Before Surfactant, an average of 10,000 premature babies died every year due to Respiratory Distress Syndrome (RDS). Now, fewer than 1,000 die from RDS annually. Although Bennett and Charlie did not require Surfactant, had they come any earlier they probably would have. We are forever grateful to March of Dimes and every doctor and nurse that helped our boys.

Although it was only a 5k it was the best race we have ever run in and one we will run in every year, until we can't...and then we will walk it! If you are ever in need of an organization to give to, please give to March of Dimes, 1,000 babies is still WAY to many!

I will post better pictures later, our computer is broken so we have to use the one picture they took of us and emailed to me!
